Champion Creek Reservoir Fishing NewsPREDOMINANT FISH SPECIES Largemouth bass White bass Channel catfish Flathead catfish White crappie Sunfish TIPS & TACTICS Trolling crankbaits and rattling baits in the main lake near humps and drop-offs is very effective for white bass. Largemouth bass can be caught fishing live or artificial baits along the rip-rap, flooded terrestrial vegetation, and along the drop-offs and ledges. White crappie are caught fishing minnows and jigs along ledges and underwater humps. Catfishes are caught using live and prepared baits along the ledges and drop-offs, and along the river channel. FISHING COVER / STRUCTURE Champion Creek Reservoir has a variety of structure types to fish. There are mud flats with flooded salt cedar and mesquite, deep rocky drop-offs and ledges, rip-rap, underwater humps, and a few old tank dams. The water is fairly clear near the dam and gets more turbid toward the upper end of the reservoir. AQUATIC VEGETATION None.
